Nad novým slovenským zákonem o regulaci vesmírných aktivit. On the New Slovak Act on the Regulation of Space Activities. Prof. JUDr. Jakub Handrlica, Ph.D., DSc., Právnická fakulta, Univerzita Karlova, Praha Právny obzor, 109, 2026, No. 1, pp. 28–41. Published online: 2026 https://doi.org/10.31577/pravnyobzor.2026.1.02 Abstract. On 28 November, 2024, the Parliament of the Slovak Republic adopted a new Act on the Regulation of Space Activities. Subsequently, this act entered into force on 1 February, 2025. This newly adopted act represents the very first piece of Slovak national legislation governing activities in outer space. It provides rules for the authorisation of space activities, registration of space objects, as well as liability and insurance, among other items. This article argues that, with the adoption of this act, the Slovak Republic has joined a growing number of countries in establishing national space legislation to address challenges arising from the New Space Era. At the same time, by adopting its own national space legislation, the Slovak Republic became the first country in central Europe to take this daring step. In this respect, this article aims to outline the newly adopted Act on the Regulation of Space Activities within the broader context of recent legislative developments in Europe. Additionally, by comparing this act with other recently adopted national space acts in Europe, this article highlights several gaps in the recently adopted Act on the Regulation of Space Activities. Key words: space law, New Space Era, space activities, nanosatellites * Tento článek vznikl v rámci řešení projektu MA/25/F3/0/017 Europe: the Laboratory for a Digital State.
