The paper deals with the possibility of using the concept of cyrilo-Methodian spiritual heritage found in the preamble of the constitution of the Slovak Republic, as a legal argument. The author considers various notions of the content and relevance of the given concept and discusses the question of its interpretative applicability. He offers his own theoretical solution in case such arguments should be accepted as a reference to christian values while trying to find a balance with Article 1(1) of the constitution.
