The direct military conflict that has arisen in Ukraine since 2022 significantly increases public interest in the defense and security of the state. Due to the proximity of the conflict, the above applies especially in the Central European region. Access to information by public, however, runs into the need to conceal sensitive facts, considering the state’s defense capability. The aim of the contribution is to identify the boundaries where the right of citizens to control public affairs must give way to the regime of secrecy and what is the current application practice in this regard. The article is based on the legislative conditions of the Slovak Republic, it is also devoted to comparative studies to a significant extent. Key words: access to information; public defense; making information available; mandatory disclosure of information |
